Fly Fishing Guide: To work in a fast paced high energy professional outfitter with a lengthy season that ranges from February to December. Job will also include options for hosting trips to several of our partner destinations.

Summary: We are looking for an experienced, knowledgeable fly fishing instructor/guide that enjoys sharing their knowledge and passion for fly fishing with our clients.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include but may not be limited to the following:

Has an interest and passion for fly fishing and enjoys conversations about it

Provides a memorable fishing experience for Davidson River Outfitters clients

An ability to teach / guide fly fishing guests, of any age or experience level from total beginner to advanced

Friendly, patient and professional with all clients

Help coordinate transportation of guests, as needed

Great knowledge of local fisheries

Is knowledgeable of all Davidson River Outfitters Product lines, and offerings

Works closely with the sales associates to ensure that the guest experience is seamless

Know DRO operating and emergency polices and operate within them

Makes sure all vehicles and equipment are cleaned and ready for the next guest after each use

Has knowledge of all aspects of trout and smallmouth bass fishing with a fly rod

Other duties as they may arise

Qualifications:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily and quickly. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

Education/Experience:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED)required and Bachelor’s is preferred

One or more years guide experience is preferred,

Must be proficient in fly casting, fly fishing and all related aspects.

CPR/First Aid Certified

Background:

Applicant will have to pass a federal background check consistent with current USFS regulations.

Location:

Applicant must be located in the Brevard, Asheville, Hendersonville, NC or Greenville SC area or be willing to relocate to the area or commute on a daily basis.

Transportation:

Applicant must have reliable transportation, a clean driving record and the ability and willingness to transport clients in their vehicle.

Language Ability:

Applicant must possess the ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Applicant must possess the ability to write simple correspondence. Applicant must possess the ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

Math Ability:

Applicant must possess the ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Applicant must possess the ability to apply concepts..

Reasoning Ability:

Applicant must possess the ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Applicant must possess the ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Computer Skills:

Licensing, MS Word, Gmail and ability to learn new computer programs is a necessity

Certificates and Licenses:

North Carolina fishing license and guide license are required.

While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly exposed to outside weather conditions. The employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee will be exposed continuously to river currents and flowing water. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; high, precarious places; extreme cold; extreme heat.
