Henry’s Fork Lodge*, a luxury 14-room fly fishing lodge in Idaho, is looking for a person with a strong hospitality background and training to assume broad responsibilities as the Lodge Manager. That person will be responsible for supervising all staff, directing all guest services, interacting with all guests and dealing with all outside suppliers. The Lodge Manager will work directly for the owner and a former manager and will be responsible for carrying out or overseeing all aspects of a small hotel operation – reservations, office administration, guest services, food & beverage, personnel, housekeeping and maintenance.
The Lodge Manager will be responsible for all forms of contact with guests before they arrive and the hospitality and service while they are at the Lodge, supervision of all other staff members, including training, scheduling, assignments of tasks and discipline, if necessary, all aspects of administration, including dealings with suppliers, travel agents, government agencies, contractors, service people, and others. He/she will be assisted by two Assistant Managers who each have two years’ experience in those positions. The lodge’s three outstanding chefs and many of its other experienced employees will also return for the coming season(s).
This job offers outstanding training and hands-on experience in all aspects of hotel operations, with a major emphasis on gracious, sophisticated and meticulous service. Both the former Lodge Manager and the owner are highly experienced in hospitality, so this job presents a great opportunity for learning and growth. This position is seasonal, from mid May to mid October, so offers the opportunity for the Manager to work the offseasons in a ski or tropical resort.
Guests at the lodge have the highest expectations for its food, service and facilities, based on the lodge’s reputation and recognition as one of the finest in the fly fishing world. Candidates must have strong hospitality experience and training, a powerful work ethic, a commitment to customer service and a demonstrated high level of interpersonal skills, flexibility and professionalism. A successful Lodge manager will have to make the Lodge his or her highest personal and professional priority at all times. He/she must be self-reliant and willing to work whatever time is required to meet guests’ needs. Experience with fly fishing is helpful, but not essential.
