Alaska Trout Guides, a longstanding, well respected and successful guide service on the Kenai River is looking to hire an energetic, knowledgeable, hardworking fishing guide for the upcoming fishing season (2021). Alaska Trout Guides is a professional, fast paced, results driven, team-oriented company that operates on the Kenai River. We are permitted by The State of Alaska and The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service to operate on all 82 river miles of the Kenai River – Including the Upper Kenai River Refuge in Cooper Landing, AK. We specialize in, and are well known for Fly Fishing, but this is a business, so we do fish salmon utilizing multiple fishing styles based on client/guest preferences or ability. The ideal person for this job will be experienced, flexible in work schedule, energetic, and willing to learn. We are looking to add someone to our team that brings something to the table and we are willing to train the right team member.
The Fishing Guide will be responsible for safely leading anglers on fishing excursions for Rainbow Trout, Dolly Varden, Sockeye Salmon, Silver Salmon, King Salmon, and Pink Salmon. The Guide will be responsible for safe boat operation and fishing activities both from the boat as well as on shore/wading. Guides are expected to have advanced knowledge of fishing styles, target species, and the surrounding area. The Guide is responsible for all boat cleaning and preventative maintenance, basic fishing gear repair/maintenance, as well as fly/tackle preparation. The fishing season is from June 1 – September 30, all guides are expected to have unlimited availability during that timeframe. There will be some set up/break down time on either end of the season that the guide will be expected to participate in. Days are long during the Alaska Summer and our fishing program reflects that. Salary based on experience.

– Possess or willing to get USCG License – Western Rivers of Alaska (Minimum)
– MUST PASS KENAI RIVER GUIDE ACADEMY CLASS – enrollment currently available, all courses to be held via Zoom in Spring 2021.
– Current Red Cross First Aid/CPR Certificate
– Must pass pre-employment background check
– Must pass pre-employment Drug Test, submit to random tests throughout the season.
